Leaking ceiling under bathroom

We had a leak in our dining room ceiling which is right under the bathrooms. We called Mr Rooter and they were out very promptly. He and my husband checked flushed the toilet and ran the shower but he was unable to find anything wrong. We do have a large hole in our dining room ceiling which we don't want to fix until we know the cause of the leak.

They did fix a running toilet (at extra cost) but we feel we paid a lot of money with no real resolution. They have a customer satisfaction survey on their website, but they don't respond to it.

PART 2

I read the response from them and that is not exactly what happened. The plumber that came here said he was not sure what caused the leak but did suggest recaulking the tub. He said if that was not the problem he would come back again to see.

Secondly, I did get a phone call from the company after I posted my original review and they said that somebody else would call me back in a day or two as they were on vacation. I did not receive a phone call.

I can see by the reviews that other people have had a positive experience with Mr Rooter. I would have to say that mine was lacking.

Approximate cost of services:
$300.00

Company Response

Dear Vicky, we came out and inspected your problem. You did have water coming through the ceiling. In order to diagnose the problem correctly, our technician put dye in your toilet on the second floor, which was above the leaky ceiling. No coloured water appeared. He ran water in all your fixtures in that bathroom as well, with no evidence of water leaking through. Our technician then cut a larger hole in the ceiling to inspect where the water was coming from. He noticed the water stains on the wooden joists trailing from another bathroom on the second floor; which was on the other side of the house. He inspected it and told you that the water was leaking from where the shower door rested on the bathtub. Water leaked from there, through the floor and followed the joist to the dining room ceiling. He advised that it had to be re-siliconed in order to prevent any further leaks.
