move

Moveworks moved my family and i on October 12 2014 We were contacted by Anne shortly after we sold our home. We agreed to have a consultation at our home with Micheal (co owner) He was very informative and left my wife and i feeling confident that he was being honest. He repeated many times that his "employees" are very professional and that they were full time movers that was there only employment. he repeated this many times.
So came the day of the move. All the promises were just smoke and mirrors. moveworks is only a small office of tele-marketers. We were assured that they movers would been in uniform, they were not. They showed up in their own moving truck with their company name on it. They used no runners in the move out process. I was told by the driver that i should provide lunch or that they would take an hour lunch break while being on the clock. So obviously i provided lunch as they had their truck loaded with all our family belongings.
Now came the move in process. They were very rushed.
We had damage to a lot of furniture, dinning chairs master bed bookshelves and our 60" Tv screen was smashed. We were very upset about all of this. But during the consultation Micheal advised us to purchase the insurance, luckly we did so i thought.
Needless to say we moved Oct 12th i wrote this Dec 17th and i have been ignored on all fronts. No returned phone calls or emails, Ive been to the office three times and spoke to only people that sit at desks and make calls all day.
Very dissapointed and upset. Feel very taken advantage of, and feel tricked
Please be aware and do your homework. Dont get taken like we did.

Company Response

We sincerely apologize for the delay in dealing with this family's difficulties during their move. We lost our daughter-in-law to cancer in February 2014 and one of our sons who was 39 years old on November 1, 2014. The devastating effects of these events had taken their toll. This customer was mailed a cheque for $1900.00 to replace the damaged television on December 20, 2014. He told our representative that if the television was replaced, he was not concerned with the other issues. I have spoken with the crew that did this move to ensure that no other customer has to deal with these problems. We do not charge the customer for lunch breaks and they are certainly expected to supply their own food. We sincerely apologize for this unprofessional behaviour. Try have been told also to always provide floor runners. Again, we apologize for the difficulties during the move and for the delay in sending the settlement for the television. Ann
