Howieco rocks!! I would recommend them any time. Ken showed up on time to do the estimate for rewiring our old knob and tube house - which was very reasonable- and his people showed up on time every day and worked quickly, diligently and with great care and respect not to disrupt the household. They were polite and efficient and the inspection passed easily. Norma, Martin, Don, AJ among a few others worked long hard hours until the job was done to complete satisfaction.. They were friendly, polite and went above the call of duty. Ken was available to answer any questions as were his team,. I would highly recommend them!

We had a great experience with Ken and his team right from the start. They were very respectful of our home and worked professionally throughout. They were courteous, always on time, returned calls promptly and got the job done when they said they would. Ken did a thorough assessment of the house and provided a detailed quote based on the work needed to be done. Even though it turned out to be a bigger job, he stuck to the original quote. We had knob and tube wiring removed, and the majority of the house rewired with new outlets and electrical panel. He and his team always consulted with us, sometimes making suggestions for improvements such as positioning of outlets, switches, etc. After the job, Ken recommended a very competent contractor to come in and plaster the holes. We highly recommend them. They're all good people.

The folks at Howie Co are great. From Ken to Krista to Don to A.J., Norma and so on. Good solid people-polite and respectful of your home, your pets etc and the work was done well. Everyone showed up when they were supposed to. Emails and calls were replied to promptly. The price quoted was the price billed. When we needed something a little extra added in (a new dedicated line) on short notice because we ordered some new appliances...they were all over it real quick! I will definitely use their services again. They also provided us with a reference to a general contractor (I'll do a separate review for her) who has also turned out to be great!

i called howieco to troubleshoot as the home inspector thought one room in the house i just bought was not grounded, though i the report he gave me there was no mention of this. don and a.j. showed up and they where wonderful. they went through the whole house and found many rooms that where not grounded and with further investigation found new wiring patched into knob and tube. then ken howard, the owner came over and further went through the house and gave me an estimate. not only did the whole team, lead by john, do an amazing job, they found more than expected, did all the extra work, cleaned up after themselves, and ken howard stuck to his estimate. i would definitely recommend this company to anyone how needs electrical work done.

Ken and his team did some recent work at our house, rewiring and installing a new electrical panel, updating and installing new receptacles (outlets)and installing new lighting fixtures throughout the house.

They did an amazing job. However three things really stood out to us when compared to some other contractors we received quotes from:

1) Ken and his team were extremely professional throughout. He returned calls promptly, asked us questions about what are needs were and gave us his honest opinion on what was needed for the job versus what was unnecessary (and would cost extra money).

2) We had a full cost breakdown of the complete job and there was no guessing as to what the cost of a particular task was.

3) As the job was being done, we were consulted on whether we wanted things changed or were happy with a choice (e.x. The positioning of pot lights and a fixture.)

Last year I hired Howieco to replace several old fuse boxes with one new circuit breaker panel and install proper service grounds. Their quote was in line with others, but because they had been highly recommended I went with them and glad I did. They arrived on time and worked quickly but carefully. Several issues arose during the job which were not anticipated including having to install a new service main to the meter and trouble shooting an existing circuit which contained a serious short which turned out to be a bad ceiling fixture. They also checked the remaining circuits for any problems. While the bill showed extra charges for this work, they discounted the bill so as the total ended up being the same as the original quote - fantastic. They also provided several important recommendations, work that I could do myself to improve my overall electrical system,including replacing some older light switches and installing some GFI plugs where required by the code now.

Purchased a house in EY in March(over 90 years old). Had aluminum wiring and wasn't fully insured. Ken and his crew upgraded my electrical to code, and had it pass with an ESA certificate. He quoted me a competitive number, and even after a few extra additions to the work load, he did not charge me one penny more. He and his crew are amazing guys. Highly recommended.

I am writing this for my grandmother who had her wiring redone in her home. I was able to trust this company to replace all the wiring in my grandmothers home, it was great. They did a wonderful job, and was able to connect her with a women to fix the wholes in the wall that had to be made to do the job. I would recomend this company to anyone who needs work done. It is hard to find people and companies to trust, especialy when dealing with elderly customers who may need extra help, or explaining the work being done. Thank you very much, Stephanie

In 2008, we bought an older home built in 1920 and during our home inspection we discovered that most of the house still had knob and tube wiring. Since we were both first time homeowners we were apprehensive about having the house re-wired right away - it just seemed like a huge job. Flash forward two years, we realized that the wiring was starting to become a safety concern and so we started to look for electricians.

Our early experiences trying to find an electrician were not good and then we took a look at the homestars website on the advice of a neighbour. Howieco Electric popped up as one of the top rated companies with many ten star reviews. We called the owner Ken and asked him to provide a quote for the electrical work in our house. He returned all of our calls on time, showed up as scheduled for the estimate, and provided a written copy of the quote to us in a timely manner. The price was fair and in-line with what other companies had quoted us - plus I felt comfortable with Ken while he was at the house to estimate. However, being the cautious person I am, I wanted further references other than what was posted on the homestars website. At my request, Ken's daughter (and office assistant) Krista was able to provide a few names of recent customers that I could call. All of the additional references that I called gave Howieco exceptional reviews which helped to validate all of the positive reviews I had read on homestars.

When the work began, Ken and his team showed up on time as scheduled each day. The team was very considerate and careful of our home during the work and took many precautions to ensure that nothing was damaged. For example, to protect the hardwood floors they taped down a protective paper and to protect the furniture they used drop sheets. Additionally, the work was conducted expertly to minimize the number of holes that needed to be made in our walls and ceilings. In cases where we had wallpaper on the walls, the crew was considerate enough to carefully peel back the wallpaper so that we could glue it back up once the work was completed and the holes were patched. In the end the re-wiring and installation of new fixtures was completed on time as scheduled and the house passed the electrical inspection.

Overall, we are extremely satisfied with Howieco and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to remove and replace existing knob and tube wiring. Ken and his team really deserve eleven out of ten on this one.
