We hired this company in 2019 and 2020 and used their protection plan on our Etobicoke house at $380 each year. October 2020 we received a "subscription renewal" titled email with a letter saying we are enrolled in the protection plan and provided links and info to renew. Since we had sold our Etobicoke house we did not respond to the e-mail and assumed the service was cancelled. From there till August 10, 2021 there were ZERO phone, text or voice messages from them until my wife received an email saying "Services have been cancelled" (by themselves or others? we thought service was no more) and we received an invoice for $520-ish plus late fees of $40-ish.
My wife called them, she was confused and upset, not nice to get this out of the blue. She told them to put a note on the invoice that it is on dispute and would not pay until resolved, they arrogantly said it would go to collections. I called to inquire, they said their contract says it is automatic renewal each year while cancelled, I do not remember seeing a contract and the "renewal" email they send is then a misrepresentation.
The other thing that was bothersome is that our subscription plan every year was for the protection plan amounting to $380.00, so i was shocked to see we "owed" $520 or so, and even if it was auto renewal contract, the additional difference was not approved.
I emailed them (contact@hometurf.ca) telling them I was willing to pay the $380 to get this over with, for a house i do not own, a service i did not approve and was not willing to pay for the rest because it is not fair. Surprise, surprise, no answer from them! Maybe they will reply, but so far nothing and when you see things like these happening, I would consider other businesses.... to think I was actually going to call them to do the lawn in my new property over the past weeks to get ready for winter....
