This is about 3 years ago and was a nightmare, i was quoted 400 and then later called that it would be 500 and then was presented with a 2300 dollar bill. On request the Hillcrest rep came by to explain the bill and was unreasonable, read here why: He said they started at 8, but they did not show up until 9:30 and they were 10 minutes walk from me at that time. Then explained they always charge 30 min driving where ever you are and had to load the van. They had a second guy come who they said started before 10 but the contractor on site saw him arrive at 11:30. They said they left at 5, but the contractor saw them leave at 3. I was threatened to have an city inspector come who would then disqualify all my gas pipes and that I would then have even greater cost. I paid and talked to many people about them in the past 3 years and heard not 1 person who had any positive experience with them, but did talk to at least 4 other people who personally had negative experience with them, 2 of them being similar to mine in level of not being professional. We then always wonder how they can stay in business by doing the work the way they do.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $2,300.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Have a proper complaint procedure that is available to people. Keep to the quote or inform the client correctly about any other cost. In conversation: be client friendly, do not threaten and admit to the real time you worked when there is proof and/or witnesses of what happened.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Never consider this company then only in emergencies when no other options are available to you. Recently after my project I saw them advertise on the back of their bus that they install a water tank for 899 all in, that is not at all realistic and that is what you can expect, information that is not realistic at all.
