We met with 3 other companies before meeting with Spencer from Hickory Dickory Decks - Durham (HDDD) to discuss a quote for a deck replacement. Right from the start we knew we were in good hands. There was no high pressure sales, just a discussion of deck design and the pros and cons of the different surface materials. HDDD is very experienced in working with low maintenance materials. We chose a PVC option for its superior durability, lower heat absorption in the sun and reduced slipperiness when wet. Spencer was well versed in the regulations for building in Durham. We had HDDD handle the building permitting process. The project proceeded as per the schedule and the permit was closed without any issues. The team showed up promptly every day and cleaned up the site every evening before leaving. Speaking of the team, not only do they truly like each other, they treated my wife and I with respect, answered all our questions and took the utmost care with our 30 year old shrubs. The team used premium materials, to create a well built deck with precision mitre edge joints.

In 2016 Hickory Dickory Decks (St. Thomas, Ontario) did a renovation project to widen our deck to span the entire width of our home with 2 levels. Since that was a positive experience, we met with their representative on March 5 to quote on replacing the wooden railings with glass panels. The existing railings and posts were removed and new metal posts were installed on March 17. The glass panels arrived and were installed on April 17. The HDD crew worked hard even though it was around freezing and it snowed a bit. The view is spectacular with very little obstruction. We love it. Another positive experience, we highly recommend Hickory Dickory Decks.

The above cost is the total for both projects. The Scarborough franchise employs the very best construction folks. They are cooperative and attendant to special requests. They built my composite deck several years ago. When I needed an extra-strong backyard fence, I turned to them again and, once again, I was delighted with the worker and the result. I would recommend this company to anyone requiring outside construction work.

This is the third time Hickory Dickory Decks completed a project for us. We initially hired them to build a two tier deck ( made of composite deck boards). We were so happy with the deck which now is fifteen years old and looks brand new, we decided to hire HDD again to build a pergola based on some photos I cut out of magazines. Again, the final result was amazing. When we decided to replace the deck picket railing to something more modern and elegant, we knew HDD would provide us with high quality product and excellent customer service. The deck is well built, uses premium materials, and looks fantastic. The team were great to work with. They were polite, answered all our questions, kept the workplace clean, and did a great job. They did everything their web site said they would do. Expectations exceeded!
