Beware of what they don't tell you. On first call, was told of $120 travel charge which I guess they all do. When electrician comes, he tells you of $277 troubleshooting charge, to find out how much repair will cost. No more than 10-15 minutes, informed me it was a Toronto Hydro issue, who he called and they did an outside line repair which is free. So it cost me $277 just for 15 minutes of his time and to call Hydro. On a plus, Matthew the electrician was pleasant and friendly

Hello Howard, I'm disappointed in hearing of your displeasure with our service. With regards to the travel fee, yes, certainly any reputable electrical company will charge that. Now, the single circuit diagnosis is another flat rate fee which our electrician will make sure our customer is aware of before proceeding with any work. Unfortunately, this mode of work seemed to fuel most of your displeasure towards Hi-Lite Electric. In order to perform a single circuit diagnosis, there is not only a need to carry all the required electrical tools, but also be assured that the electrician is properly trained and fully certified. As you can imagine, this certainly tags a price to it. In terms of the duration of the single circuit diagnosis, they can range from short to long. Your single circuit diagnosis was short in duration and that seemed to illude your reasoning process in terms of what you felt the cost should be. I hope you were happy with the work you received from Matthew, as he, being a fully licensed electrician takes pride in the quality and efficiency of his work!
