Living Room Remodelling

I got Kris to redecorate my living room, a complex wall entertainment unit involving reframing an entire wall, drywall and painting, and creating two cavities in the wall to hold curios, plus a vertical area in between to fit a new TV and electric fireplace. The whole job was done to my complete satisfaction. Kris came forth with design advice too which I value highly. The crew is disciplined and punctual and always cleans up at the end of the day. This was my second project with Kris (the first was basement finishing) and I would gladly hire them in future for more works.

hardwood flooring

I had an area rug all throughout my apartment which was the original flooring solution since the construction of my building (15 years approx). The carpet had sustained major damage in a number of places as well as some mold that began to grow in my living room corner. I hired Kris to remove the rug and install a fresh hardwood floor throughout my entire apartment which was approximately 1200 sq feet. The quote was $13000 of which $4000 was paid up front to cover the cost of materials. The cost covered the removal and disposal of my old area rug and the installation of the new sub floor and hardwood. The work was competed in a timely manner and Kris had three guys working on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday which was convenient for me. They also gave me new baseboards which we did not discuss when signing the contract but Kris said that he had included it in his quote. The plywood under the old carpet was removed as it had some mold on it. The new floor and baseboards look great and I have recommended Kris to one of my coworkers.

porch and stair

I hired Kris to do the front porch and stairs. Kris asked for a 50% down payment before starting work, which I thought was unreasonable and we renegotiated. In hindsight it was a huge red flag, and I should have walked away. What I got was a wobbly handrail screwed to the stringer, and a stringer which was not the right dimension and not in compliance with the Building Code. Kris came back reluctantly to modify the stringer, offering a band aid solution and trying to convince me that the code was open to interpretation. I ended up hiring someone else and had the stair redone at my own cost, to bring it to code. This time the handrail post was set properly on a concrete footing, not just screwed to the stringer. A lot of unnecessary aggravation and money wasted.

I hired Greenwall Renovators to turn the kitchen, living and dinning rooms of my 70-year old house into an open concept area, adding an skylight and rebuilding the kitchen elsewhere from its original place. The job required original thinking because of several (sometime unexpected) challenges. Mr. Biedrzycki successfully lived up to my expectations in a timely manner and within budget. The level of his professionalism is rare in his trade and worth all my trust.

Major Home Renovation

This was our third home renovation with Greenwall which speaks to our confident endorsement of their work. The recent renovation included everything from all new wiring, plumbing, walls, basement, bathrooms and even the roof. Kris is an honest guy who comes through with solutions that help you work with your budget and expectations.
I think he offers a great value to your project as he knows how to get things done. (he's also the only contractor in town who always answers his cell phone - and not just when he's trying to get the job like so many of them - and then they disappear once they get it)

Hi Kris,

Just want you to know what an incredible comfort it was to have you in charge of the renovation of my basement and deck. Your intelligence, competence and creativity made both projects truly splendid. Your expertise is obvious as well in the skilled and conscientious and efficient people you have working for you.

As a home owner, it's a real pleasure to have the work done when you say it will be done and at the [reasonable] price you have quoted.

Thanks so much!

Judi

Second floor conversion to rental unit

After my two sons left home, I wanted to convert the second floor of my 100 year old home into a two bedroom rental apartment. I had heard of Kris' company Greenwall Renovators. His company was able to efficiently and meticulously transform a rundown space into a modern, solid, well finished unit that has been easily rented.

several new Windows, siding, evestroughing

This company did work for us in the past. They did a terrific job of our front window so we asked them back a few years later to do some major work on our exterior (aluminum siding the alley way and back of our house, all eves, a garden door on the kitchen and several windows (5). A contract was made in early April 2008 to the tune of $14,000.00 and change. As part of the contract, they required: 30% downpayment; 40% when the work is in progress, the balance to be paid when the work was done. Within days of starting and finishing installing the garden door- they asked for 40%. We gave this willingly and arn to the bank with them following us. No notice of this was given. I had to hurry to the bank that evening. Since then, I had little progress. The siding was done improperly and not by a professional but a young man. I had an opinion form another contractor who said it was done wrong from the start and could blow off in a storm. They only did as far up as the ladder could reach and never came back. That was after threatening to sue. (that was October 2008. the work remains unfinished now February 10. All I got was one door, and three windows for the $10,100.00 we gave them. Plus, they never called with a schedule and the owner, Chris, never called with an explanation. We have not heard anything at all from the owner since October 20th.
I would definitely not use them again. I will have to sue as well. Beware!
