Late deliver, terrible driver

Scheduled a move from Toronto to Vancouver on July 19th. Movers showed up on time. Moved all my stuff with care. But after that, everything was terrible. No communication at all coming from them, I had to follow up by myself to check where my stuff was. Finally got a call from the driver one day prior to the last transit day they promised, just to be informed it would be delayed again. When I confronted the driver, he told me with attitude that he was only 1 day late! Communication with the company was painful. I paid in advance which I should have never done. Right after my payment, I was treated as garbage. Driver threatened my building management office when the availability of elevator wouldn't fit his schedule, used cursing words on my girlfriend, and always always came up with excuses and L I E S to appear he was innocent that it was all other people's faults. Complained to the company about the driver and late delivery, no followup from them after that. They also took my own moving blanket on the coffee table which I packed myself. It was clearly written on the sheet that it was owner packed. Again, when I asked the driver, he started giving me excuses, only when I explicitly asked him whether or not he read the item sheet, he then admitted it was his fault and said "no, I didn't read it" without even being sorry. This is not the service I paid for. I didn't even ask for a refund, just a simple apology to me and my gf apparently was still too much to ask from them. Remember the driver's name: Steve, avoid him or better off, avoid this company. I'm talking to my lawyer if I don't hear back from them. This issue now got really personal. The building manager and her assistant were the witnesses of the whole disaster. I got the recording from the security cameras to show how he behaved in the lobby. I have plenty of resource to back me up. I want to see how the driver quibbles in front of the witnesses and evidence.

Company Response

Hi TJ,

Thank you for your input. This driver is a new driver for our Edmonton agent Provincial Moving & Storage. We have forwarded your complaint to Steve's manager Gary Saran in Edmonton.
Unfortunately your building manager told your estimator Rick that your building had tractor trailer access. When Steve arrived he found out there was no access and he ended up getting an expensive parking ticket which he had to pay. This however is not an excuse for his misconduct.
I understand our Customer Service talked to you on the day of delivery and gave you financial compensation and apologized for Steve's misconduct.

Thank you,
Great Canadian Van Lines

Damaged furniture

We moved across the country in December of last year and had our goods in storage for several months while we completed renovations on our new house. When the movers were finally unloading our furniture and boxes, we were shocked to find that nearly every piece of furniture we own has been damaged in some way. For example, our picnic table was gouged, our dresser was dented, two of the knobs on our TV console were sheared right off. Most of the furniture that was damaged can not be repaired and must be replaced. We started a claim with the company over two months ago and they have delayed it over and over again. It has yet to be resolved. While the one person I had initial contact with to set up the move was pleasant and efficient, since then we have had nothing but problems. I would NEVER recommend this moving company again.

A great experience

We had a great experience with Great Canadian Van Lines.
We had an across Canada move from BC to Ontario, and we took our entire household goods with us. We had Persian rugs, antiques, dishes, glass wear; every type of item possible. Our things were picked up on time, delivered early, and not one single item was lost, misplaced, or damaged. The guys who delivered our goods ( Steve, our driver, Donny Bernard, and Nagraj; the crew from Provincial Movers out of Edmonton working with Great Canadian Van Lines ) were especially wonderful. They were professional, efficient, and friendly. They moved everything with care, put everything where we asked for it to go, and even took extra care (like covering my husband's table saw with plastic against possible rain because we had to store it on the back deck for now). We want to send out a really big thank you to these guys. They are true professionals. Something that seems harder to find these days, but oh so appreciated when you are lucky enough to come across them. Bottom line: if you choose Great Canadian Van Lines, you can rest easy. I was so worried about moving everything we loved all across the country like this; but it was all just fine indeed. Thank you.

Cross country move

Moving across the country can be quite overwhelming but I had a great experience from beginning to end. Mark was my contact and answered all my many questions and dealt with all my requests at changing inventory to help determine a realistic quote. Our driver was on time for both the pick up and delivery. The loading and unloading was very quick, and clean. The actual date of delivery was within the time frame estimated. The movers were friendly, polite and interacted well with our kids and even our dog. They were a pleasure to deal with. Our furniture arrived safe and sound and all accounted for. I would recommend GCVL to others and I would use them again if need be. Thanks guys!!

First rate moving company!

I called a broker for this company at the last minute to move my possessions from Toronto to Vancouver. Within 24 hours they had movers at my door. The driver, Bill, and his fellow mover, Kevin, were extremely polite, careful with my things and very professional.
Bill and a local mover by the name of Trenn, were bang on schedule when they arrived in Vancouver. Not a single item was damaged and they brought everything inside my place with due care and attention.
I honestly would not hesitate to recommend this moving company. Every step of the way from my initial discussion with the broker, Shawn, to my interactions with Bill and his team was so easy and a welcome change from other service providers.
If you want a fair price and piece of mind for your possessions, call these guys.

Simple, Hassle-Free Move

Moved from Toronto, Ontario to Vancouver, BC and used Great Canadian Van Lines for the move. While their initial quote was a little more than the other companies, the end result made it well worth every cent. Our furniture and belongings all arrived here in immaculate condition, movers were on time and very friendly, and it took all the stress out of the move. Would definitely use again, would definitely recommend.

Moved from Toronto to Vancouver area

The entire move went very smooth. While loading, I forgot an item and they accommodated me by taking it the next day (I met them at a truck stop to give the item). While unloading, there were a lot of stairs in our new home and the team worked cheerfully and with no complaints. All our items were handled without any damage - kids toys, bikes, scooters, electric car were all fine when they arrived. They placed the items wherever we wanted them to be. Very organized. They took all the stress out of something that is usually stressful.

Move from Montreal to Courtice ON (Dec. 2015)

Unparalleled Professionalism. From the beginning of the correspondence with Kathy to the loading and unloading of the goods. The crew was punctual, polite and EXTREMELY professional. The move was for my in-laws who are elderly. Great Canadian eliminated a great deal of stress for them by making this move so seamless. I have no problem recommending Great Canadian for any move.
Thanks
