Stay far... far away....

We had purchased our first home 8 years ago, and had Enbridge install an AC Unit that they recommended. That summer, we noticed that it was ALWAYS on, and could not keep up with some of the hotter days in the summer. When Calling the Salesman about the unit possibly being too small, he said that it was not, and he would sell us a new unit, but we already own the current one. He also said that newer units are supposed to run constantly to provide better effeciency. We had no money at that time, so we had to live with what we were sold.

We had an issue with our existing furnace about 2 years later, which we called them to fix. They did a good job (hense one star in the rating) and we purchased a maintenance agreement on both systems to cover us for unexpected events.

Now that we are more established and have a little more money, we decided to replace the furnace (now 20 years old), and every company that we had in to quote on the furnace told us that the AC is undersized for the house, doesn't have a matching coil, and the comressor was not placed in an ideal location for airflow. Needless to say, I feel like Enbridge really screwed us over with our AC Purchase/Install. Based on that, we are now replacing the AC until (again) so that we are running a matching one to the furnace, it is right-sized, and the installation is done properly.

I just called Enbridge to cancel the service contract that we've been paying into since we had the problem with our furnace (5 years), and I have found that I have to pay out the remainder of the year of the contract (5 months x $30 + HST) which has not left a hatred in my soul for this company. I've paid them almost $2000 for a service contract that I've never used (ever) and they want another $150 for me to cancel it. (not to mention the price of the AC Unit plus install that was botched all along the way)

All that I can say is that you should definately get other bids on your system and raise an eye to anyone that quotes a unit whose capasity is different that what the others are quoting. It is always possible that we had a poor salesman, and poor installers... but to have them both on one job is a little suspecious.

Approximate cost of services:
$3,000.00
