We moved with El Cheapo for the second time in 7 months. First move was in December 2013, it went smooth, the crew (2 movers) arrived on time, was professional, we were satisfied with our experience. Based on that we hired El Cheapo again for our June 20 move. The moving crew itself was fine, we have no complaints, they did their job and 3 stars are due to their efforts only.
The office staff (or management, booking people, however they are called) were on the other hand terrible. The elevator at the first location was booked from 1pm to 3 pm. El Cheapo office staff apparently considers this as a "window of arrival" of the moving crew. When I found out about it, I immediately phone them and spoke to Gail from the office staff, and told her that this is not a window of arrival, this is the time when the elevator is booked for our move. She assured me that the crew would be on time, even called back and said that she had to shuffle some things around to make sure that the crew would be on time. Well, it wasn't. The moving crew had a prior move somewhere downtown, and arrived at 2:40pm, or 20 minutes before end of our elevator booking. Also, at around 2:10-2:20 pm Toby from the office staff called my husband and advised to take a third mover since the move is delayed, for additional price obviously. We felt utterly helpless, because the movers were running so late and had NO CHOICE but to agree to additional mover and additional cost. We were not offered any form of apology from the office people, or any sort of discount for all the inconvenience they put us through. We will not use or recommend El Cheapo to anyone anymore (we did to a couple of people after our first experience).
