bathroom sink repair

I paid $72 dollars to get a quote from Drainworks. I needed a new tap installed in my standard bathroom sink (no plumbing problems; just a drippy faucet). The guy quoted me more than $700 just to put a new faucet in a standard bathroom sink!

I found another licensed plumber who is replacing the tap for $320 including labour. When I complained to Drainworks, I received a nasty email from the manager calling me names.

Approximate cost of services:
$72.00

Company Response

Anne,
After looking into the call done at your home yesterday, there are several inaccuracies and outright falsehoods in your email. You mention that your bathroom sink needed either new washers or a new faucet due to a small drip. You were given 3 options for this: $159 +gst to repair the faucet, $319 +gst to install a faucet that you supplied, or $529 +gst for us to supply and install the bathroom faucet for you(including parts and labor). If you look at your invoice, all of this was very clearly explained and documented on it. You signed the invoice acknowledging as such. Furthermore, we take great offense to the wild accusation that your gender had anything to do with the outcome of the call. We have one pricebook for EVERYONE; Male or Female. All of our pricing is clearly outlined in it. Lastly, you say you're outraged at having to pay $72, yet you were made aware of the assessment fee when you booked the call in and had agreed to it; no more or no less. Not liking our prices is one thing, but to proclaim wild inaccuracies and falsehoods is a completely seperate matter. The same procedures, systems and business practices are conducted daily by DrainWorks, this enables us to correct customers who make proclamations like yours.

Thankfully, Homestars is in the process of getting the capability for parties involved in situations like this to post the invoices in regards to claims made. This will go a long way towards ensuring falsehoods like this can be seen in an accurate light so other consumers won't be swayed by misinformation
