When David showed up to give us the quote, we showed him a picture of the design we wanted as our centerpiece. He looked at the picture, the size of the tiles and the area we wanted the centerpiece and said he could do it. We had no reason not to believe him with all of his years in the business. We agreed upon a price which we believed was based on the difficulty of the the centerpiece.
No complaints on the quality of work on the backsplash. However, when it came time for him to do the centerpiece he realized that he could not do the design we wanted. We had to come up with another design on the spot for him to put up as the centerpiece... And the alternative was more simplistic than the original design.
Now I can't complain about the quality of his work. David was clean and efficient. But in the end, the design of the centerpiece was not what we wanted, and we feel that David should have been able to have determined that based on his experience, on viewing the tiles we had and the area allocated to the centerpiece.
