Davey Tree Expert Co Of Canada Ltd

I have had Davey Tree to do the care of my trees over the years. Due to the Covid years I have had no work done by them. So, this year was a big, long delayed job. Their arborist, Ben, did a thorough job of looking over trees and the care they needed. I had 2 separate cedar hedges trimmed and one of them topped and storm damage removed, a short yew hedge brought down a few feet to allow more light into the garden area and the pond, on each side of it, a bay laurel in the same area trimmed to about the same height in a more rounded shape, a tall pin oak removed, an old rather scraggly styhrax japonica in the same area removed, three sumacs removed, a camillia and 3 rhodos trimmed back as they were encroaching on the neighbor's sidewalk, a French lilac had its height lowered by pruning out the dominant growth. I was very pleased with this treatment of the lilac as it had grown too tall for me to do what I thought was caring for it by removing the spent flowers. I was a little disappointed with the trimming of the rhodos and camillia. They are old plants, and not too well taken care of due to the neighbors attention to chopping at them. I am thinking of taking them out entirely and adding a cistern to the property ... but I dream. :). I had the pyrocantha taken out entirely as it had become too tall and unmanageable. I was sorry to see it go as around Christmas morning flocks of robins would come to feast on the berries. In the same area they removed a Eucalyptus that I was keeping at a lower height and the tree did not like this nor being crowded out by the other trees. The final event was the arrival of the bucket truck. They took off the branches that were pointed towards the house, and shortened other branches. I really like this tree. When I bought it about 30 years ago it was said to have a 20 diameter spread of these branches. It is really like a 20 foot growth of each branch. Due to Davey Tree's care of my trees this tree remains a good healthy tree. While they were running the bucket truck at the front, numerous Davey Tree young people arrived to help clean up all the debris. All this work should make the next few years of my trees needing minimal care. Thanks for all Ben and your crews.
