Overcharge and Poor Diagnostic
I had to contact this company for a service call for my tenant as the Furnace would sometimes fire up and sometimes wouldn't. Prior to call, I asked the rates and I was told that the minimum charge is $120 for first hour and any additional hours would be $90 + Parts. The service was very prompt and the individual was in the area and familiar with the property / Furnace as it is contracted by the management board. However post service (which lasted 30 mins) I got a call stating that the problem was with flame sensor and the individual cleaned it and its working. The charge was quoted $240. Not understanding, how $120 became $240, the individual explained that I needed to pay for the guys time, gas, commute etc. This was my first time calling an HVAC company so I tried to negotiate on my understanding and got them down to $214. Anyhow, the furnace started acting up again as before within 2 hours and when I called the company again, I was told that they will go back in again and replace the part, this time it would cost me additional $400+ including part ($140). Didn't smell right, called two other HVAC companies, they both said that billing doesn't work that way. We charge a flat service call fee, $120-$130 and you pay for the part. The service call can take 2 mins or 2 hours. if the Part needs to be ordered and they need to come back then it would be another service call, but if they have the part it would be within one call. I cancelled the further service from this company and got my furnace repaired for a much better price. Overall, this company has a great response and promptness to the service, but beware of billing and how it may increase from what originally was discussed.
I called another company, they charged me flat $125, found the issue that was not what this company had stated and my furnace has been working fine for over 2 weeks now.
