Consumer beware of terrible service and install

Buyer consumer beware

This is my honest review of our experience thus far with Canadian choice windows and doors.
First, let me say that I chose this company based on reading others good reviews that they had wonderful customer service and good product.

We were originally quoted 14-18 weeks for a 13 window and patio door replacement job. That became 26 weeks time, with no communication offered by Canadian choice. Any updates we received were if we had called and requested after the quoted time had passed by several weeks.

After several delays we were called and booked for November 30th to begin install.

Soon before our install date they called and asked if they could push back by one day, so we allowed. Install date now December 1st. (Windows ordered in May)

Install went mostly smooth. Many of our existing window frames have cracking and have separated from the wall. They will require fill and paint, we can live with it as we choose to keep our existing window mouldings.

The patio doors which were also installed were done so on a slant whereas they sit 1/2 taller on the right side than the left. The trim around the doors is also 1/2 taller on the right side and is noticeably skewed. (81 vs 81.5)

After sending photos and measurements to the customer service staff, and after several iterations back-and-forth, they agreed that the patio doors would be reinstalled correctly. The repair job was schedule and on the day of the install the time slot given was 2-4 pm. With no phone calls, emails or communication the window installer showed up at my door at 7pm. Clearly with no intention to work on fixing the doors as planned and scheduled by Canadian choice. The installer instead rudely came into my home argued with me over the discrepancy and was insistent that they did not want to rectify the crooked doors.

After contacting Canadian choice once again, they sent another member of their staff to measure the doors again, and produce a report so that they can schedule the repair job. This happened two months ago and we have not heard back since.

Ive called several times at which point Ive been told that it is with scheduling and they will reach out with a date for me and they have not.

This experience has been very unsettling and unlike reviews I had read prior to selecting this company they are not leaving us happy with the install or service provided. Customer service is uninformed and could not even contact their installer when they did not show up in the scheduled time slot.

Once our job was complete, Canadian choice cashed our check the same day, however never provided any form of invoice or receipt stating that we paid in full.

We again also had to reach our to request the receipt or invoice for the $25k we spent with Canadian choice. We had to email and request a copy with proof it was paid, we were first issued a screenshot, which was not sufficient for the government grant and so we had to reach out a second time to have the official invoice sent to us.

Overall we are very dissatisfied with the lack of communication and service from Canadian choice on so many levels. Their uncoordinated repair service wasting a complete day of mine waiting for the service person to come into my home and then to argue with me, and to leave me hanging with no resolution.

I would highly recommend staying away from this company. Their products are over priced, their services are below subpar, and their communication at this point is nonexistent. I would suggest using another company as the company to replace your windows and doors.
