I just wanted to relay the experience my wife and I had with T.A. with your company Avenue Road Roofing. We've noticed small trickles of water coming into our home over the last few months after rain, so after eliminating other possible issues, we feared the worst, that we needed to replace the roof, a costly endeavour to say the least.
We proceeded to contact about 6 different roofing companies to have them come by for an estimate. Two didn't even bother calling back, one was late, and one guy's phone rang about 6 times while he was in our home, and he took the calls 4 times. Not very professional.
Only two guys pulled out a ladder, and proceeded to take a look at our roof which is quite high since it's a narrow but tall townhouse.
Out of those two guys, only one guy really stood out. That was T.A. from Avenue Road Roofing. Trevor was on time, friendly and took the time to ask us many questions about our leak. He seemed to genuinely want to find the source of the problem. Next, he grabbed his ladder and said he'd take a look, which involved bringing the ladder through our house, a tad cumbersome for him perhaps but he didn't seem to mind.
He gets to the roof and immediately notices that our eavestrough is completely full of leaves, dirt, soil, and spends the next 15 minutes pulling it out by hand to clear it out. He also brought our garden hose up with him and ran some water through the downspout to check for clogging.
I should mention here as well that every other company immediately said we needed a new roof. Trevor was the oly one who didn't automatically draw that conclusion. In fact, he was the only one who said he estimated the roof still had "some life" -about 2-3 years.
After getting down from the roof, he said that he thinks he might have solved the problem, that the excessive clogged trough was quite possiby the issue, as the shingles looked ok.
Obviously we were glad to hear this news, and I proceeded to ask Trevor what I owe him. "Nothing" he replied. He added that if that didn't solve the problem, he'd obviously give us a quote on the roof, but if it wasn't necessary, there's absolutely no charge. His thinking was that if/when we do in fact need a roof, we'd remember this experience and call him at Avenue Road Roofing.
Well trevor, you're absolutely right.
Even if the roof is in fact the issue, Trevor was the only one who went the extra mile without earning a dime (I tried to give him money but he wouldn't take it) so that to me is a sign of an honest person, which reflects well on Avenue Road Roofing.
And to prove the power of word of mouth, this morning I came into work and relayed the story to a colleague. This particular colleague just also happens to be needing a new roof soon, and Avenue Road Roofing, and Trevor in particular , will be getting a call all based on the experience we had.
Thank you Trevor! (And good luck with your own new house)
