My wife and I awoke a few mornings ago to find our furnace refusing to start (it had been off for a few days due to a mild spell). Upon calling AtlasCare I was greeted by a cheerful individual who, after guiding me through a couple of "checks" on the furnace, informed me that they could have a service person out to our house within a couple of hours. It is worth noting that the service window they offered was only two hours - not the six-plus hours service window I'm accustomed to from many other service companies! Sure enough, after only an hour or so into the service window the doorbell rang and a cheerful fellow named Chris was at the door. With no prompting whatsoever, Chris put on a pair of boot covers to protect our floors and went right to work diagnosing the problem. As it turned out, we simply had a severely dirty sensor that was throwing the rest of the system out of whack - a problem that took all of two minutes to rectify. Due to the relatively trivial nature to both the problem and the solution, and the fact that the invoice for diagnosing the problem was similar to that of a yearly system check-up , Chris offered to perform a full check-up and cleaning on our furnace unit! I was stunned. Many other service companies I've dealt with would have been content to simply wipe the sensor clean and walk out the door with the diagnosis fee in hand! It should be noted that Chris also gladly handled my barrage of a thousand questions and requests for furnace-related advice with aplomb.
