We were not sure if we had raccoon(s) or squirrel(s) in our attic. We would hear scratching and scraping in the attic at night (e.g. at 5am when it was still pitch dark outside). We called AAA Gates based on the positive reviews on Homestars. It is very helpful that they are willing to come out to take a look and provide a detailed quote for free. It turns out that a very determined raccoon had managed to pull the cover off one of our roof vents (apparently this is not uncommon), giving them free access to our attic. In fact, my mother had found the cover on the ground a few days earlier, but had no idea what it was. The quote to install the 1-way door, and to return later to replace the door with permanent raccoon proofing on the roof vents, was clear and detailed. We went ahead with the work.
