Personal Movers recently did a move for us and the experience was a mix of good and bad. On the good side the guys on the moving crew worked quickly and were polite and respectful. On the bad we had several items damaged including a gouge in our dining table. A complaint was filed with photos approximately mid August. We found the unnamed person who handles bookings and damage claims difficult to deal with. After sending the photos of the damages the person asked us is an email “If you do not mind us asking what are your expectations for the outcome of this situation?” We answered the question in good faith with some suggestions and were tersely told that compensation for damage would be based on the contract for the move, and the person also said: “… you did decline premium insurance when signing the contract, which would include higher coverage.” Why ask us for our suggestions and then reject them? We were also told a so-called independent carpenter, also unnamed, would examine the damage in the photos and determine whether the gouge was as a result of the move or old. The fact is a fact that the gouge happened in the move, and we would not have complained otherwise. Lastly, we were told it would take a maximum of three weeks to decide on our claim, which would mean a result by September 6th. We have never been told the result of the claim, which was presumably denied, and follow up email we sent September 9th has gone unanswered. It seems that this poor service is the result of us Initially over estimating on our end the amount of furniture and boxes we had to move. We sent as requested a more exact list of items two weeks ahead of the move, which had it been reviewed by Personal Movers would have provided them with a chance to change the estimated time required. Following the move when we first reported the damages, the booking person suggested by email that we should have been pleased the move took only two hours and cost the minimum amount. In other words why were we complaining about a few slightly damaged items? All in all Personal Movers is not as professional as it claims to be and anyone considering using their service should be cautious.
