While our home is only 15 years old, the original builder windows were terrible in terms of quality. They were not energy efficient and every window was plagued by condensation and staining. After sourcing a number of quotes, choosing Vitaly and the team at Total Home Windows and Doors was an absolute no brainer. Vitaly was transparent from start to finish, guiding us through the options, how the windows were made (including a factory tour), and how best to maximize the federal rebate programs. When it came time for installation, Art and the installation team were phenomenal and replaced the 17 windows and 2 sets of doors in 2 days flat. They took great care around sensitive fixtures and cleansed up thoroughly when the job was done. At the end of the day we couldnt be happier with the finished product and would strongly suggest anyone else looking to do the same to strongly consider having Vitaly and his team quote on your job.

We were out on our deck enjoying the day when I noticed a number of wasps entering and exiting along the flashing of our roof (adjacent to a downspout). Having used Pesticon before I knew exactly who to call. Manish was on site within an hour of the call and quickly and professionally dealt with the issue. Goodbye wasps! I reached out to Trevor last fall for help with a interlock parking pad that had heaved and was accumulating water each time it rained. Trevor provided a quote that was both comprehensive and competetive. While we encountered a few hiccups when the project started (turns out there was zero based under the stone), Trevor was quick to problem solve and kept me in the loop each step of the way. We were entertaining guests on Saturday night when the door to our deck was accidentally closed with the door knob lock engaged (which we don't have a key for). With all of us on the outside looking in we put in a call to John at Perfect Pick and he had us in within 45 minutes of placing the call. A year ago my wife and I puchased a 100-year old character home in Leslieville. While the interior of the home had undergone significant updating, the exterior of the home didn't receive as much TLC and we quickly agreed that the existing deck in the backyard needed to go. Envious of our neighbours deck, I asked them who they used - Master Deck. I picked up the phone and got in touch with Alec. He stopped by the house later that week, looked at what we were working with, and worked with my wife and I on designing our dream deck (for the space we're working with). Alec listened attentively to all of our requests and was able to integrate everything beautifully at a great price. Storage is hard to come by in these homes so a key focus was including waterproof storage under a good portion of the deck for those outdoors items that I'm happy to finally get out of my furnace room. Another key focus was integrating areas for the garbage and air conditioner. We challenged Alec with horizontal railings and fencing all of which he executed seamlessly. I think it's safe to say we're the new envy of the neighbourhood. I will certainly be a lifelong promoter of Master Deck and look forward to working with Alec again in future! One of the key repairs we needed to make was to the eavestrough which was not sufficient to handle the water coming off the roof (waterfall effect). As a loyal HomeStars user, I scrolled through various providers and found my way to Westwood Aluminum. Tony quickly answered my call and scheduled a time to come by and see the home. Following his inspection of existing system, Tony confirmed that the eaves were indeed too small to handle the water and suggested the removal and installation of 5" trough and 3" X 3" downspouts. Given the number of massive century-old trees lining the street he also suggested installing Alu-Rex leaf guard to help ensure care-free maintenance. Looking around our house, Tony also offered to install soffit (board and batton sytle) across our porch ceiling to cover up the unsightly popcorn treatment that the previous owners had applied. At no point was Tony trying to sell us additional work; rather he was acting almost as a consultant giving us plenty of options to play with. When the quote came in it was easy to understand and included the costs with and without various items. Long story short, other home repairs ended up trumping the eaves and we decided to hold off until early 2012. When I reached back out to Tony this spring he honoured everything he had quoted before and even came out to the house to address some of the questions I had. Once everything was squared away, Tony's crew came did the entire job in 2 days. All I can say is what a phenomenal job they did - it's even better than I could have hoped. Westwood Aluminum is doing things right and at a competetive price to match. I will be a lifelong promoter of this company. Well Done!!!!!

My wife and I recently moved into a beautifully renovated 100 year old semi in the heart of Leslieville. While the inspection report noted significant upgrades to the waste piping, within 3 weeks my sewer system backwashed (thankfully it was only laundry machine water). The original company I called rushed to the scene and cleared the immediate problem. Scoping the system they noted severe tree root penetration in the clay pipe. Maybe it was the number of times he referred to me as "buddy" or maybe it was the way he easily pulled $6,000 out of thin air to rectify the issue, but something told me to get a second opinion. The next day I logged onto Homestars and came across Drainworks Plumbing. Recognizing the trademark vans around town, I scrolled through the endless sea of positive reviews. I picked up the phone and made the call. The gentlemen that answered the phone was extremely pleasant and dispatched a member of their team that day. Mike showed up a few hours later and informed me that he'd have to re-scope the pipe as the other company conveniently neglected to write down any sort of diagnosis. While I didn't really enjoy paying for the service again, I felt like I was in good hands from the start. Confirming the extent of the issue, Mike provided a much better quote and was patient enough to listen to my endless series of questions, all of which he answered perfectly. The crew showed up as scheduled and began their work. Digging the hole by hand, they reached the trouble spot and replaced the line with 4" PVC SDR pipe. Battling through loose sandy soil, ground water and 2 hole collapses, the crew carried on with a degree of professionalism that is rarely seen these days. There was no complaining or passing comments of "oh this is gonna cost you more." Concerned with all the rain we've been having, the crew backfilled the hole that day, replaced my temporary pavers and re-attached the stairs leading to my front porch. Had you not seen the monsterous hole earlier that day you'd never have known they were there. To Walter and crew, thank you so very much for all of your hard work, you guys definetly went the extra mile and beyond! The next day Mike returned to re-scope the system. Walking me through it step-by-step, Mike confirmed that everything was "perfect," giving me back that piece of mind that I so desperately needed. When we settled up, the price was what he quoted me for, no surprises. I would highly recommend Drainworks to anyone in need of plumbing/drainage services. Their professionalism, expertise and courteous service is a rare find these days. Keep up the fabulous work!
