This was my second year with Hometurf Lawn Care Service. Last year there was a marked improvement in my sad, patchy and weed-invaded lawn. They did a wonderful job as it had been neglected by the previous owners.
I was eager to hire them again this year and to my dismay the service and end product were terrible and not worth the money paid. I expected it to be as good or better than the previous year because of all the tlc it had received from myself and Hometurf in 2017 however it was quite disappointing to say the least.
I watered the correct amount and had purchased add-ons to this already expensive service (for my budget on a single salary). I added 'patio weeds' and extra seeding. Well my patio was so overrun with weeds that I had to go the old-school route of making many trips with boiling water to kill the huge weeds before an outdoor family party. That money was down the drain. I had to fight to get a refund for that because their customer service was so poor.
Both front and back lawns were patchy and showed no evidence of overseeding with huge gaping areas. Both lawns were overrun with tons of weeds which seemed to be the only thing flourishing. When I called them about my concerns I was told, " Why don't you go and buy seed and seed it yourself?" I was flabbergasted and irate! I pay them all of this money and I must go and buy seed on top of it and do it myself??? Then why am I sacrificing my already tight budget to pay them??
I spoke with Desiree in Customer Service and stated how upset and disappointed I was with the service this year. I cancelled renewal for next year. I also said that given the poor service, I would like a refund of sorts or at the very least to not have to pay the final $25 installment.
Nope... they could not even step up to write that off. They sent me to collections instead of appeasing a very disillusioned client.
Had they attempted to rectify the situation, looked at the pictures I was offering, refunded part of the fee and offered a discount of sorts for next year if I would allow them to regain my confidence in them... I actually would have given them another chance! Now... I am officially no longer ever hiring their services and instead of a satisfied client who was well-treated and respected by their customer service, they have earned a 'former' client who has told all of her neighbours and written reviews stating: STAY AWAY FROM HOMETURF! If 'zero' stars were an option I would give it!
They take your money and so long as they are paid they do NOT care about your satisfaction, nor do they go the distance in terms of customer retention.
Thankfully, there are MANY other options other than Hometurf for lawn care.
