We hired Pulsar construction to remove our old rotting sun deck and build us a brand new one. Right from the start, Alex and Mila were reliable and easy to work with. Quotes for the job came in promptly with lots of useful information on brown pressure treated lumber and photos of previous work. Once we had chosen their bid, they started work the next week and proceeded to complete the project in a week and a half. Alex is an old world craftsman who builds quality projects with expertise and pride in his work. No corners are cut here. He pays attention to detail and his structural framing goes beyond code to build a product that will last for years as well as appear attractive. He kept us informed of every step in the project and cleaned up all debris every night to keep the work site safe. He answered all questions promptly and was willing to listen to our requests. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hard working, agreeable couple for any construction job in the future.

The wood around the base of our stucco-clad 1939 house had areas of dry rot or damp rotten wood. About 1/3 of the cedar boards on our sundeck also needed to be replaced due to rot. Mainland Ventures sent two good carpenters who replaced all the rotting wood in these two areas, and sealed around the base of the stucco outer walls to prevent further water infiltration. They were prompt, pleasant, efficient workers who did a very good job. They tidied up afterwards and removed all the old rotten wood from our property. The only small criticism would be that some of the fence boards that had to be removed next to the deck were not spaced evenly apart when they were put back. They offered to come and adjust this small thing though, so they always make sure you are satisfied with the job. I would be very happy to recommend this company's services to a friend. We have used Mainland Ventures for several renovation jobs now and they have always been great.

Blight's Hardware is a great hardware store on Dunbar. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and the store sponsors many of the neighbourhood sports teams and school projects as well.

The workers from Mainland Ventures were reliable, pleasant and very skilled at their various trades. Work was completed in a reasonable time frame and the budget was adhered to. The work site was cleaned up after each individual job and garbage taken away. All work was completed to our satisfaction and any problems were addressed promptly. We would be happy to hire this company for future jobs.
