My spouse and I are house nerds. We buy old architecturally interesting or significant properties and restore or resto-mod them. We have really high standards and typically fire about 75% of our trades on any given project due to poor workmanship/ quality/ attitude which seems to be epidemic amongst trades in Vancouver.
Ed at Dunbar Hardwoods has worked on three of our projects and has always beat our expectations. He refinished the top-nailed red oak floors in our West Side Gerald Hamilton 1959 stand-alone penthouse, the oak floors of our classic east Van bungalow, and most recently the reclaimed shiplap (apparently from a 100 year old barge) fir floors of our AA Robins super-pomo house at Main and 25th.
Ed does a great job at providing options that work best for the situation and never oversells etc. The craftsmanship is superb and the attention to detail is borderline obsessive. So nice to find someone that will do a good job.
We are super happy with the results. The floors looks fantastic and the system that Ed suggested has worked out perfectly. The final invoice came in as expected. We found Dunbar Hardwoods to provide excellent value for the service and quality of workmanship.
We'll definitely use Ed on our future projects.
