Our home office is in the basement, so when the cold cellar under our front stoop started to smell so bad this year, we finally had to just close and keep the door shut. Last weekend I removed everything, discarded most of it and saw what looked like mould in a few places at the base of the walls. Most of the contents, especially the cardboard boxes were damp and pretty mouldy. After receiving promises from three other companies to call me back, yesterday I spoke with Manny from GreenStream (MouldRemoval.com), who agreed to come this morning to look at the problem. Manny arrived on time and after a brief inspection said “I don’t want to take your money.” He said that all I need to do is wash the concrete on the inside of the cellar with a mild detergent, use a steel brush to try to remove the worst of the mould stain, and then use a dehumidifier to dry it thoroughly. He also said that we should have no concerns about the air quality, which is a huge relief. Thank you Manny for your honesty, for saving us money, and for giving us peace of mind. Delta Company, which I believe is now out of business, re-built our front stoop and faced it with stone in 2005. Less than a year later, the grout between the stones disintegrated and the stones on the steps became loose. After receiving numerous promises to repair it, we have never heard from them again. So much for the 2-year guarantee...
