My husband and I were in the early stages of a home renovation and I had decided that I would remove some of the carpeting and old hardwood myself. Unfortunately, as a I began removing some of the hardwood, it quickly became obvious that I was outside my level of ability. The hardwood had been superglued to a particle board subfloor and as I pryed up the floor boards, parts of the subfloor were coming up with them. In consultation with my contractor, he brought in Blair Berg from Enviro Surface Removal who responded the next day by coming to site and investigating the flooring. Blair determined that the particle board was sitting on 3/8" plywood which is not up to current standards. In addition, the particle board is not the appropriate material on which to lay a new hardwood floor. Blair also brought in his partner Bob Logan on a Saturday to get a second opinion. In the end, it was agreed that all of the particle board and existing surfaces (lino & hardwood) would have to be removed before a new layer of plywood could be installed as the subfloor. The removal team, Senior, Junior & Darko arrived on time and quickly set to work. The work was completed within one long full day and the work area was left clean and tidy. Blair and everyone at Enviro were great to work with and their speedy response to my emergency were very much appreciated. They truly went above and beyond in saving me and my project timeline. WHY WE CHOSE SUPREME WINDOWS We are in the process of completing some home rennovations and were looking to replace a number of windows for our master bedroom, family room, and kitchen. We contacted four window vendors including Supreme Windows and met with the representatives for quotes. While a couple of the products appeared to be relatively comparable we decided on Supreme. The pricing wasn't necessarily the lowest; however we we impressed with the product and, more importantly, Karl Bergen was the only representative who was fully engaged in the process. His open manner and genuine interest in meeting our needs stood out above the rest. With a background in home manufacturing and rennovations as well as many years in window manufacturing, Karl understands what clients are looking for. He offered many suggestions, made recommendations, and he came equipped with is handy dandy iPad and was able to show a multitude of examples of projects that he had worked on in the past. This visual of the final installed product was very helpful in making our window selections. THE INSTALLATION The installation process went very well thanks to Ryan and his team Matt & Emanuel. They worked quickly and efficiently, eventhough there were two issues that came up during the installation. The first was an encounter with stray wiring that needed to be moved before one of the windows could be installed. Ryan immediately contacted an electrician to move the wiring. While waiting for the electrician, Ryan and his team continued with other preparations in order to be ready to install as soon as the electrical work could be completed. The second issue was regarding skirting for a bay window that we could not match with our existing siding. Ryan recommended a new solution that we feel looks even better than the original design! The crew also did a great cleanup job at the end of the installlation. THE PRODUCT We ordered a double fixed window for our family room, a right casement window for the kitchen, and a bay window with bench seat for the bedroom. All three are from the Legacy Vinyl series and we added the built in grill which really adds to the look of the window. In addition, we ordered the Imagine sliding door for the patio with an overhead transom widow. We are extremely pleased with all of these windows but especially enjoy the bay window in the master bedroom and the Imagine patio door which is a real 'cadillac' among sliding doors! The hardward mechanisms are solid and offer excellent security and peace of mind. The quality and appearance of the windows has dramatically improved the look of our home and we look forward the energy savings come winter! THE SERVICE During the installation process Ryan pointed out a couple of minor scratches in one of the glass panes in the Imagine patio door. Mitch and Heather in the service department have been wonderful to work with and immediately ordered the replacement. They are very easy to work with and stay on top of the process to completion. RECOMMENDATION We are so pleased with our new windows and how easy it has been working with Supreme Windows and its representatives. In fact, we had such a positive experience and we loved the windows so much we ordered a new back door because our old back door was such a wreck it wasn't doing any justice to the new windows! We will work with them again when we replace our front picture windows and front door.
