Future Paving (FP) represented by Tom, had signed contract excavate the existing driveway, relay interlockings, and rebuild the front stairs. Tom had signed the contract in April and the project was supposed to be completed by May/June. Tom took $500 deposit for the entire project. The FP removed the existing asphalt in April and supposed to complete the work in 4-6 weeks time. On June 23rd, Tom showed up, took the final measurement and said that FP will deliver the material the next day and the job would be completed in a couple of days. On Wednesday June 24, Tom showed up with two crew members, they sprayed the lines to mark the area, a screening was delivered and no other materials or work was completed. On Thursday June 25 no work was completed, no materials were delivered as promised by Tom. On Friday, June 26th , another individual showed up, he introduced himself as the "real boss" Mimmo. Mimmo demanded money upfront, contrary to the contract and he threatened that no work can be done until the payment is made. He was sent away, he was yelling loud and clear about lawyers, liens and so on... On Friday night, some materials were delivered and the crew showed up on Saturday morning June 27. Mimmo showed up later and he took $3000 for the materials and initial job. On Monday June 29th, anly the bosses showed up and no work was done. We have pointed out to Tom and Mimmo the damage to the waterproofing drain barrier which was done by a tamper. Their response was; "Don;t worry about it, we do it all the time when working with commercial buildings". They do not care that the damage was done to a property and they should take the responsibility to fix the problem. On Tuesday June 30th no work was done, both parties Tom and Mimmo were coming up with different stories to explain. Tom would be confused and surprised why nobody is working on site, Mimmo would be telling stories about a broken truck and that the crew is on their way and they would come to work in half an hour- no one showed up. Every time we had to call them, they would not show any courtesy to take time and truly explain why they did not come. They took $4000 and they do not care anymore. Very unprofessional, poor communication skills with customers, lack of good will. We had requested that the FP takes their equipment and materials and part away from us. I would not recommend this company to any homeowner. Their reviews which are positive are from commercial places where usually their friends and allies can give them a buddy-system review which looks good on paper. Too bad that Mimmo and Tom don't care for what they do and how they run their business.

Approximate cost of services:
$11,000.00

Company Response

Future paving honours all it's contracts and takes all measures to complete jobs on time and in a clean and professional manner. We have been in business for over 20 years and rarely do we come across a client such as Mrs Marzewski and when we do every effort is made to ensure the job runs smoothly and both sides are happy.

The contract for this job is available to anyone as a reference, (minus personal information not already revealed by them). Feel free to visit our website futurepaving.org and contact us.
The total amount for this job to remove the old driveway and replace it with asphalt and interlock edging was 11,500.00.
Future paving asked for and received a 500.00 deposit.
Future Paving arrived at the Marzewski residence with three dump trucks 7 employees and, hundreds of thousand of dollars in heavy equipment. Future Paving spent more than half a day excavating the old driveway and removing 2.5 dump trucks of rubble. We escavated and removed the old asphalt driveway, the old concrete walkway, wooden siding of the old driveway and grass extension. We supplied and installed 2.5 dump trucks of gravel.
Mrs Marzewski told Tom our sales person she wanted to enlarge the driveway escavate further than its existing size. I strongly advised her against it and explained that the City does check and will demand you replace the driveway to the original size. Against our advice she went ahead enlarging the driveway only to have the inspector demand she reduce it to original size. This is part of the City public record.
Prior to the installment of the interlocking, we asked for a progressive payment schedule to be met. To this point we had only received the 500.00 down payment. She did pay 3,500.00 bringing the total to 4,000.00. The deposit for interlock stones and materials was denied and she demanded more work and materials for the same price. Unfortunately without the agreed upon progressive payment schedule being met, future paving could not continue. After a failed negotiation, we realized the customer was unrealistic, unethical and impossible to please, so we removed our materials.
She demanded more than the agreed contract and expected extra work and material for free. We were very patient and tried several times to work with Mrs. Marzewski but she was impossible. The 4000.00 we received did not even cover the cost of work done and materials received. There is still a 2000.00 balance owing. No money was ever paid for interlock as Mrs. Marzewski suggests. Since both parties were unable to come to an agreement, future paving removed the material which she refused to pay for.
