My furnace broke and I called Direct Energy to fix it. A service person came and fixed it, he also convinced me to sign up for the protection plan. Not 2 weeks later, another service person came to the door for a "complimentary inspection" as part of the plan. After spending an hour in the furnace room, he told me the furnace was unsafe and disconnected it from the gas supply and left. This was on a bitter cold Friday afternoon in February, with a baby in the house.
So after being charged for the first repair, now I am told the furnace is unsafe and faced with another repair.
Conveniently, a sales person contacted me and suggested a new furnace. Needless to say I took my business elsewhere.
On a positive side, they did cancel my protection plan after dozens of phone calls to customer care.
