When walking into Downtown Flooring on Queen West, you will be greeted with a friendly staff who are very helpful in choosing a product. I was able to take samples home and the sales people negotiated on pricing with me. However, the problem did not occur until the installation a couple weeks later.
The install team came to my home, they were friendly and polite, I offered them the use of my basement bathroom while they work as a courtesy. They were almost done the install when I noticed my water pressure was low upstairs and I heard running water. One of the installers left the water running in my basement bathroom sink after they used it and walked away without turning it off. My house is 100 years old, so the sink doesn't drain very fast, this caused it to over flow and filled my basement hallway and bathroom with 2'' of water. I ran down when I heard the water and saw the mess, I assumed the tap broke or something. NOPE, it was just left on. The crew was shocked, I told them I would clean up the water. They left in quite the hurry. I was left with a flooded basement and to my surprise a brand new floor covered with piles of sawdust for me to clean. I also noticed a long scratch on my new kitchen floor from the crew dragging the fridge across the floor. The fridge was the only item that needed to move on this floor and it had wheels. I don't understand how this happened. In addition I have recently discovered that every single heat vent is cut crooked and will not fit any size of vent cover. There was also debris from the wood they cut left in the vents. When I called the sales representative from Downtown Flooring to tell them about the water damage and the scratch, they offered no apology or compensation. I don't like leaving a bad review with a business, but trying to tell them directly was a waste of time. I'm not okay with this and I am pretty annoyed by this experience even a year later. This company needs to stand behind the services they offer. Feel free to contact me: Downtown Flooring if you want to fix this problem. ricky@saucetel.com
