J Stewart Roofing was referred to me by a top-notch wildlife control business, that we have successfully used before more than once on previous homes, a company that removes wildlife from attics, etc., after creatures have made their way through a vulnerable roof or decaying fascia. Therefore, this wildlife control company has seen lots of roof repair or replacement work done by a number of big and small Toronto roofers.
First, there was a home visit and consultation with John Stewart, who went up on the roof to examine it and who took pictures to show me where the shingles were worn away, etc. He was patient and accommodating and took lots of time to answer my questions about materials, ice dams, fascia boards, how things get done, etc. And he wasn't aggressively pushing for the job. I agreed to work with them.
I was not disappointed. There were two crews, one who re- shingled the whole roof, a complicated roof design, and another who followed who replaced the fascia and installed the new, one-piece, 30 foot stretch of gutter. (The previous one had a seam half way along and was leaking from there.)
Dan and Andrew, the two respective crew leaders, were very personable and kind, who took time to answer any questions, took pictures of the finished roof work that you couldn't see from the ground, etc. Their workmanship appeared excellent (I checked by going up on the lower reaches of the roof), and both crews cleaned up very well.
I would recommend them to anyone, including my sister, who is going to use them for roof work on her own house.
