Had used Shanks in past without incident. Called office and spoke with James re: installing copper water line to be ready when new fridge arrived a few days later. Yusuf and assistant came and installed water line. A few days later fridge is delivered and delivery guys say "why didn't your plumber install the female end on copper so fridge can be connected?" I replied " i don't know - I ain't a plumber" so I called James and he said that someone would come back the next morning. Yusuf came back and presents me with a new bill for more money, so I call James and say why am I paying more money for a guy to come and finish the job that wasn't done properly. He wouldn't budge so I said is this worth losing a customer for? and bad word of mouth? and he said "yeah". Great business model. Stay away from these jokers. Brutal.

We had a classic awkward space - the under a 3rd floor stair case closet with sloped ceiling in a 100 yr. old house with unlevelled (is that a word?) angles. It had one hanger bar in it and we gutted it to have Tailored Living make it far more useful. I was worried they might not want to do such a rinky-dink job / maybe not worth their while (as they do huge custom walk-in closets for clients who own more clothing than Elton John)...BUT they were super great. They had drawings done up within a few days for a few different scenarios that would accommodate my wife's love of blazers, scarves, sweaters, and shoes. The price was reasonable and the installer, Alex was friendly and left the house as he found it. A huge plus for me after half the trades I've dealt with in the past don't clean up their crap properly afterwards. Excellent project. Highly recommend these guys.

Another (our second) project with GLH done expertly and great guys to colaborate with - good problem solvers. Cedar ain't cheap and guys who know what they are doing ain't cheap, but to get great work done you need great builders. People freak out at how great the woodwork looks in the garden.

I hired Sam from Bosh from the classifieds in the Village Post magazine and took a chance using a company I knew nothing about. He was courteous and told me the cost, which I did not haggle with as many homeowners do. He installed two outlets in the garden, as well as a timer box for two decorative tree spotlights. Sam and his assistant spent half a day, installed everything and I parted with roughly 1500.00 bucks. Two months later the timer box is not working and he has not replied to my two phone calls, with the reasonable request to come by at his convenience to fix it. I guess he's not an electrician who stands by his work. I will pursue a complaint against him via his electical license. Really disappointing.

Liam and Will and Co. built a beautiful cedar fence and were communicative along the way, troubleshooting small things that came up, and following through on all things discussed. I find a lot of trades in a reno project are not great with clear communication i.e. we are coming this day, it will take this long, this is what we're doing etc. Not the case with GLH. They were a breath of fresh air. Great job.
