Home inspection of House to buy
Honestly I was very dissatisfied. The only reason why I gave any stars was he was very thorough and friendly. But a few things bothered me. He clearly works closely with the real estate agent they know each other by name. He also mentioned he inspected this house before (approx. 1 month ago) but deal had not gone through. I would expect Pillar to Post then to send someone different so they have fresh eyes. He was a very generic home inspector. The biggest issue was we had a roof inspector see the roof 2 days prior and noticed major deterioration with the roof, holes in it and some spots the shingles were torn showing the underlay underneath. It was recommended to replace the roof immediately. We mentioned this to him so he didn't end up inspecting the roof. Even though he said it was in great shape. Anyways at the end of the inspection on the way out we noticed he had the ladder out and was looking at the roof over the garage and told us again it was in great shape. My husband who is in the housing industry and knows inspection very well got on the ladder and noticed the shingles were very brittle and cracking. And the inspector said this is normal and still a good roof. I just couldn't believe this. The fact he did this after the inspection with the real estate agent around baffles me. It makes me wonder if he intentionally did this to try to make it seem unreasonable for us to mention the deterioration of the roof to the owner. Especially since we have cold hard proof from the roof inspector with pictures proving otherwise. The major damage was on the second story roof not above the garage. So clearly a home inspector does not look at that. We would never use them again as they seem biased and quite frankly not worth the money for what we get. Yes he was thorough and spent 2 1/2 hours at the house but in this case something didn't seem right.
