Even though we are DIYers, we decided to hire a contractor to install pot lights in the living and dining room, kitchen, main entrance, and basement to make sure that the installation followed the electrical code in Ontario. We chose Quality Potlight based on the rating and reviews in Home Stars, and they did not disappoint. A technician assessed the areas, recommended the number of pot lights, and described the features of the product that they install. After adjusting the preliminary estimate, and then accepting the final quote, the installation day was scheduled 3 weeks in advance. They just asked for $100 as a deposit. Mike and his crew arrived in the morning, as planned, went through the plan with us, covered the floors, and started the installation of 38 pot lights, which were completed the same day. No sweat! We requested the installation of an additional pot light in the entrance of the house which was done without adding any delay to the completion of the work. At night, we changed our minds and realized that too many pot lights had been installed in the basement, so we called Mike to request the removal of 4 lights from that area. Mike agreed and confirmed to be back the week after, on Monday, and they just did it. Before the removal, he discussed the decision with us to understand the reason. The lights were removed and two of them installed in the laundry area, per our request, with no additional cost. I don’t hesitate in recommending Quality Spotlights. Their work is flawless, the crew very respectful, and they proved they really care about their customers. The pot lights look great and have given the house a modern touch that we were looking for

We hired Emerald professional Painters to remove the popcorn ceiling from the living and dining room, and the main entrance. They also painted the walls of the areas where the popcorn was removed from. We were referred to them, but certainly, their rating in Home Stars was also part of the criteria to have chosen them for this project. Since the first time I contacted Emerald, Andy was always responsive to answer questions and schedule the work. The quote submitted provided all the information, scope of the work, terms and conditions, and the paint product that they use. The initiation of the work was scheduled 3 weeks in advance, and it started as planned. The first day, two painters arrived home, covered the floors, and removed the popcorn ceiling and prepared it for painting. The second day, a third painter joined the crew onsite to paint the ceiling and walls. In preparation for that, other areas were masked off by using plastic. After finishing, they cleaned the affected areas. We are very satisfied with the result (the ceiling looks just great), the quality of the work, and the timing to get it done. Their painters really know their business, always arrived on time, were respectful and always willing to provide answers to our concerns. We added the painting of two walls that were not in the initial scope of the project, which did not cause any delays to the completion of the work. As a customer, to me, it is very important to me that a contractor answers my calls, or return them after leaving a message, and Emerald demonstrated their commitment just by doing that. We posted this project at Home Stars and received broken promises from two other companies that were going to contact us to provide an estimate, but never did, so this simple gesture of professionalism made the experience with Emerald hassle-free. I highly recommend them.

I am so glad to have found and hired Oaklee General Contracting to repair the trim at the front (facade) of the house. I am very satisfied not only with the quality of the work but also the way Darryl managed this small repair project end to end. Very professional. Here are the Pros of working with Oaklee: 1. Responsiveness: Darryl kept in touch with me all the time, from the time he contacted me to inquire about the requirements to the execution of the repairs 2. Honesty and Fairness: he understood our needs and provided a realistic estimate, and never offered anything beyond what was required 3. Punctuality: the project started the day that we agreed upon. In the following days, he always arrived home on time until finished. No delays, no excuses, no BS 4. Order: tools and materials remained tidy after the end of each day the project lasted. After completing the repairs, the driveway, lawn, and other areas where the work took place were cleaned up after the work was done 5. Respect: Darryl and his crew were respectful, always willing to answer any questions or concerns I have no doubt to hire Oaklee General Contracting again

Searching for the right windows and doors company was not an easy task. We got quotes from four different companies including Window Choice. In general, the sales persons from three of them were very helpful, and answered all our questions. Window Choice’s project consultant, Kien Luu, was very friendly, offered to us several alternatives, and explained the financing options available. We decided to go with the vinyl package since the window’s frame looks very clean and does not require any painting. In a nutshell, the process of the quote was very straightforward, and we had time to compare this solution with the others before taking the final decision. After we signed the sales order, the installer came home as promised to do the final measurements. Two weeks before the windows were ready, we received the phone call from Choice Window to schedule the day of the installation. The windows were ready and installed as scheduled. Mirko (I hope his name is written correctly) did a great job. The old windows were removed quickly, taking care of the debris caused by the removal. When they installed the first window casing, we noticed that it was not the one we had chosen; however, it looked great and we decided to keep it. Anyway, Window Choice would have replaced it if we had asked for it. In the exterior, they did an excellent job with the caulking around the windows making them looking very clean. We are happy with the product and the job done. Some tips: 1. If you have the chance, visit Window Choice office to know more and see their showroom. It is worth it. 2. Ask the project consultant to write down ALL the conditions that you’ve agreed upon, for example: you want to keep the existing blinds (if that’s not possible, then you must know from the beginning so you know the impact); the type of casing; if the frame around the window is wood, then keep in mind that you will have to paint it or pay for it, so make sure it is in the quote if Window Choice will do it. 3. Get the area/rooms where the windows will be installed ready for the day of the installation: move furniture, plants, and anything that can interfere with the work around, so they have space to do their job
