I went with Markham appliances because I visited them couple of times and I found their prices to be quite reasonable. Little did I know that the low prices are only because of the big scam they are running at the shop. I renovated my entire kitchen recently (July 09) and bought the entire set of appliances from them - fridge, stove, dishwasher. They recommended LG and I went ahead with some research and mostly on their recommendation. At the time of checking out and pricing the entire package (fridge, stove, dishwasher), the owner and the sales person said that the discounts would be applied by LG, as LG was offering a mail in rebate on these appliances. They handed me some printouts from the LG site and it clearly showed that the mail in rebate was running till June 7, 2009. So I asked them, how can I get the rebate because this was July already - and they printed me a duplicate copy of the invoice - backdated!!!!! So now technically, I had purchased the appliances back on June 5, and I was getting them delivered in July. This seemed almost illegal to me and I told them this is not acceptable. They mentioned, there is no problem, we have done it for many, many clients. I hesitatingly went ahead with the purchase - big mistake! To sweeten the deal they threw in discounts on installation services - which on the day of installation, they completely refused to honor. My installation included hooking up a natural gas connection. The installer for the appliances came over (extremely rude and rash with his work - stay away!) and tells me on the spot that the money that I have given the store is not enough to install the gas line. Imagine this - the entire kitchen is upside down - all appliances are unplugged and I get this surprise to pay additional $450 on the spot! Of course, I call the owner at Markham Appliances and he shamelessly tells me that this is what we agreed on and that I will have to pay cash otherwise the installer will leave! Bottomline - you get what you pay for. Their prices look good - but that because they are using an old LG mail in rebate program to lower the prices and for heaven's sake stay away from their so called installation services (the actual Gas line installers are good, but the so called 'master installer' for other items like the fridge, stove, dishwasher, is completely incompetent and will destroy more things in the house than he will fix. Buyer Beware of Markham Appliances!
