this contractor took our money, did not complete the job and left trades unpaid either completely or partially.Never again will we do a home on a contract only. Cost plus is the way to go. Insist on seeing the actual invoices from trades when the contractor asks for a draw. No invoices, stop the draws and speak to a lawyer. We wish we did.

- We researched quite a bit but not enough. When something during the project feels hinky go with your instinct and call the contractor onto the carpet. We wish we had paid the trades directly when we suspected something was wrong. Involve a lawyer posthaste.
