I'm very satisfied with my new windows. Steve Frame (awesome last name, considering what he does) was amazing. He was friendly, knowledgable, and helpful during his estimate visit. Additionally, the installer Jay and his team were efficient and knowledgable and the quality of work was exceptional.

We were having a problem with rain water leaking into the house somewhere around the chimney. Paul CALLED ME after another contractor told him of our problem. I can't tell you how impressed I was by this alone! Most roofing places take a few days to call you back if they call you back at all! We talked on the phone and, by asking a few questions, Paul had diagnosed the problem OVER THE PHONE. This man knows what he's talking about and he knows roof repair. He showed up on time and was quick and efficient with the repairs to the flashing around the chimney. He also pointed out and fixed some other issues which had been neglected by the roofer who last worked on the house. Paul was thorough and meticulous, taking time every step of the way through the repair to explain what was being done and why. We were also planning on having the entire eavestroughing around the house replaced. Paul told us that this was unnecessary and scheduled a second work day later on and another contractor to come and do these eavestrough repairs, only to the areas that needed it, and some repairs on the flat roof on our garage as well. All of the other reviews of Paul Bishop on Homestars are bang on. He is honest, easy going, personable, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable, a true gem in an industry where, from personal experience, it's easy to be swindled by people who have no business being in the business!

Thinking I could repair things myself, like a moron, I started taking my dryer apart because of a weird smell coming from inside it. I immediately thought something had crawled in from outside through the vent and died inside the dryer somewhere. Needless to say, it did not go as planned and I ended up with an unusable dryer which was not fixed. Steve came in first thing the next day and had the dryer fixed within 10 minutes. He is a super nice guy, very personable, high energy, and talked to me about video games the whole time. Awesome! He also identified the smell as not coming from within the dryer but air from outside the house being sucked into the dryer vent because of a negative air space created within the basement of the house (apparently very common). Turns out the neighbors cat pooped directly outside the vent in the alley next to my house. Gross. I don't remember the exact cost as I am writing this review a couple of months after the fact, but I remember thinking it was a totally reasonable charge at the time. In short, great guy, very knowledgeable, reasonable price. I'd hire him again in a second!

Thanks for the great review! (Shh...I'm trying to keep my video game addiction a bit of a secret though...)

All the best!

The attached image is a newspaper article from September of 2013, roughly five months before I hired Ron. Please read it. If you still need more reason not to hire this contractor, here it is: A renovation that I was told would take three weeks was still ongoing at 2.5 months when I had to fire Ron through his voicemail on his phone because he NEVER picks up his phone. The work is shoddy at best, the crew takes no pride in their work AT ALL and, in my opinion, are really not qualified for anything beyond hanging drywall. I am not a contractor but could still pick out lots of areas where the work was not acceptable, but I didn't find it until after they were already gone. For example: copper plumbing not secured properly so it is floating in the walls, dryer hose was installed so it vented into the wall, not properly to the outside vent, edges of tile cuts had chips due to an ancient blade being used, didn't properly level the basement floor before installing laminate flooring in areas which needed it so the floor is uneven in spots, left a LIVE WIRE tucked into the outlet box with no cap or tape on the end of it, left a rough opening for a door which was not a standard size. I had to take apart the studs arounds the door and redo the opening myself so it would fit a standard size interior door. A CUSTOM SHOWER STALL WHICH WAS NOT GRADED PROPERLY SO THERE WAS STANDING WATER ON THE FLOOR OF THE SHOWER. I saw the concrete which had been poured and expressed my concern before the mosaic was laid down but was assured everything would be fine. It was not fine. Ron gave me every reason why I should leave it the way it was because he clearly didn't want to spend the money and time to do it the way it was supposed to be done. I had to pay a second contractor multiple thousands of dollars to break up the mosaic tile and concrete in the floor of the shower and redo it all, as well as rip out and redo tiling on the walls. There was no stainless steel edging, no caulking, not even any finished edges on the outside tile corners in the shower, the grouting was really bad in the inside corners. I could go on and on and on… The crew showed up randomly, rarely gave notice as to when they would or would not be there, never seemed to work a full day when there was clearly lots of work to be done. After I fired Ron, it took his crew three weeks to come and pick up all the tools they had left in my basement, as well as bags and bags of garbage they left on my front lawn, even though I called and/or texted Ron multiples times daily to arrange a time for him to come and get it out of my house. Ron himself was at my house for a grand total of maybe 8 hours during the renovation. When I asked him why he wasn't present at least some of the time to supervise the renovation he had been hired for, he replied 'Well do you need me to be there?" STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS CONTRACTOR. HIRING HIM IS A MAJOR MISTAKE. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
