3/10

She gives you a Tim Hortons gift card for a five star review. I don't think this is very honest. She did an okay job. Missed a major leak in the ceiling and a dead bird on the fireplace.

Company Response

Hi Spencer,
Sorry that you feel we did only an 'OK' job, we are always striving to do our best. A couple years ago we did offer a $5-$10 gift card for posting a review but it was NEVER contingent on being a 5 star review, many companies offer incentives for posting reviews including this HomeStars website which offers a free movie ticket or a free homeshow ticket when you post reviews. I do not believe this is dishonest in any way; nobody has any influence on what your review will be except you. As to your issues, as we told you at the time of the inspection we offer ourselves as free consultants to you if you have questions about your house after the inspection and we will gladly discuss all of your issues with you and if needed make a return visit to the home for further investigation. Let’s talk about the leak in the ceiling- There were leaks in the ceiling that were mentioned in the report, did you have these leaks checked out and repaired? Sometimes a leak is in the ceiling could be a plumbing leak and these are often not visible or even leaking at the time of the inspection, so I wouldn't be able to comment to much more without a little more information. The roof coverings were new but partially snow covered at the time of the inspection and therefore only partially visible, did you have the roof reexamined for vulnerable areas when it was clear of snow?
Bird on the fireplace: birds can fit into some really small spaces and they sometimes fall down a chimney but would it be visible during the inspection, I’m not sure. The purpose of a home inspection is to find items that are major concerns or things that are significantly deficient (as was explained to you at the time of the inspection).
Please feel free to call if you would like to discuss any of this further.
I only have record of one client with the name Spencer from a couple years ago so I am assuming that is you.
