The work that Above All has done on our unit has been so substandard that we have to have someone else correct it. The drywall work is poor quality and it's very obvious where the new pieces of drywall have been inserted. They also trapping an electrical outlet behind drywall and mudded over it. They painted over the nails, they insisted on only painting portions of walls only. Despite written instructions they got the wrong finish of paint. They repeatedly claimed not to know the scope of work despite having been provided professional quality documentation in writing with drawings describing the work and they even came on site specifically to review the scope of work in person and again where provided with written details of the work. We paid to upgrade the drywall and they brought just regular drywall on the first day of construction and not what we had agree on and paid for. They had to be sent to the store to purchase more supplies as they ignored repeated instructions on the type of materials asked for. The attitude of owners is horrible. They basically show up at your house and dictate to you what they feel like doing. I would not recommend this company if what you're looking for is quality work. I can put up with a bit of attitude if at least the work is professional quality but the work is bad and the owner's and his sons' attitude is very aggressive and uncooperative. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to work with them because that's who our building hired to do the work. Save yourselves the worry and just hire someone else. After we asked for some deficiencies to be addressed they did some more work but half way through the day the labourers got pulled off our job and sent somewhere else without any notice of when they would return to fix things and do a proper job. At this point we have no choice but to get someone else. We will never be letting them work on our unit again.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $5,000.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- They could stop selling restoration services and claiming they have capabilities they simply don't have.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- You should look very carefully for your contractor. Make sure they are both cooperative and experienced. Don't hire a jack of all trades or anyone who claims they can do everything. No one can do it all and as they say jack of all trades but master of none. Ask for referrals from friends and neighbours and look at their unit. Make sure that wall joints look good and everything is done evenly.
