I paid to have a Tarion conciliate my claims with the builder. They ask for a 300 dollar fee be paid upfront. It's refundable if there are items on your list that they claim are warranted. If you disagree with their agreement, they direct you to submit an appeal to the License Appeal Tribunal (LAT). The appeal requires documents filed with different departments. The time frame is 30 days. There is also a fee for submission. In my case, I would have also had to pay legal fees as I had no idea of how to file the forms. I found the Tarion "conciliator" unwilling to discuss her conclusions . She just referred me immediately to submitting my concerns to the tribunal. I reached out to her coordinator and received the same feedback. After being stonewalled by the builder, I had great hopes that Tarion would come to the rescue. Tarion didn't help me at all. It was just a waste of time and money. If you are having problems getting your builder to fix poor workmanship and customer service problems, you're better off speaking to your lawyer. Overall, it would be cheaper and more productive. Tarion is just something put in by the builders to make you think you're being treated fairly when in fact they're not there to help at all.
