Could Enercare "care" less about its customers? After paying them $20/month to rent a hot water tank that is now 20 years old, we decided to upgrade to a modern hybrid system (which they do not offer). You would think that after paying Enercare some $4500 over the years for what was probably a $500 water heater at the time, they would say "thank you - please dispose of the tank as you see fit" - as that tank is obviously scrap metal at this point. But no: we are told we "borrowed the tank, like someone borrowing a pencil, and the owner expects it back." So unless we want to buy it for $100+HST, we have to wait a week for them to come pick it up or schlep it to a depot open two days a week, for four hours at a time. No exceptions. This is ridiculous if not scandalous business behaviour and customer service. When it comes time to replace your water heater, ask yourself carefully about the economics of renting from rapacious companies that live off these rents... and only offer terrible customer service.

Slavic from Control Air is a friendly and professional HVAC technician whom we will be recommending to friends and family. He gave us a window for his arrival time (which he met) and also called when he was en route - very nice. We had him install an Aprilaire in-line humidifier for us, which he did quickly and efficiently and for a reasonable price. We also had him clean and tune-up our high-efficiency furnace while he was here. Slavic explained how everything worked and also walked us through an A/C installation for our downtown Toronto home - which has some tight space constraints. We're planning on having him do this work next spring. All in all, a very pleasant and professional experience. Highly recommended.
