I paid $290. in January to have a 13 month old dishwasher repaired. The pump and motor were replaced. the repairmen were very courteous.Less than two months later the dishwasher is again broken. Although the replaced parts are covered, the labour is not.I find this very frustrating that labour is not covered. It seems there is no point in repairing an appliance as there is no guarantees that the appliance will continue to work. In retrospect, I should not have taken the advice to repair the appliance. I am now faced with either sinking more money into repairs with no guarantee of success, or swallowing the $290. and buying a new dishwasher. Needless to say I am very frustrated.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $290.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Offer a longer guarantee on parts and service. $290. could have gone a long way towards the price of a new dishwasher.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Find out the clearly beforehand the guarantee on any service as well as parts. Inquire what the costs include.Financially I would have been better not to have had the dishwasher repaired. It is very sad that labour and repairs are so costly that it is cheaper to replace rather than to try to fix a one year old appliance.
- Company Response
I unfortunately do not recall this from 4 years ago as we just signed on with Homestars. We offer warranty on all repairs which is 30 days on labour and manufacteur warranty on parts (typically 90 days or 1 year depending on manufacteur). We totally agree that in a few cases it's cheaper to buy new then to fix! It's a shame to see how much ends up in our land fills!
