We contracted Hubbard last September to replace a wall that had been damaged by Flickers (woodpeckers). We were promised our job would be done the following summer. Then they promised to get to us before the snow. Meanwhile water was seeping through the wall and had stained our living room ceiling. Hubbard finally started work on November 13 after a big snowfall and during fairly cold weather. The crew removed the siding and saw that the insulation was full of black mould, but intended to finish the wall without removing the damaged insulation. I assumed Hubbard would have known to expect mould after being told repeatedly about water seepage, and I assumed our estimate included new insulation. We were never given a detailed contract. Therefore, we had to pay an additional charge for insulation. The men put a birdhouse on the wall which I did not want, and I am waiting for them to come back and remove it.

Mr. Miller came out promptly after I called and examined our problem toilet. He ordered parts and sent his employees back two days later to replace the valve and flapper. The work was completed quickly with no mess and it now works fine. We have hired RyMill before and are always confident in their work.

Our contractor subcontracted Calgary Custom Cabinetry to build and install our cabinets, and I wish I had used Calgary Custom Cabinetry as my main contractor! The cabinets they built for us are of excellent quality materials and workmanship. Sebastian installs self-closing hinges and drawer slides, so the kitchen is quiet and elegant. The work took longer than expected but that was mainly due to the people we had signed with. My only issue with the cabinets is that the counter height on either side of my range differs by 1/8", and you can see that the range is higher than the counter on one side, but level on the other.

We purchased a package deal from Western which included a tub, toilet, sink and vanity for a small bathroom. We upgraded the toilet and tub, the latter had to be special ordered. After 2 weeks, they arrived with the wrong tub. This was blamed on their distributor, but clearly no one had bothered to check whether what was delivered to them was correct. We had to wait 10 days for the right one, and another 3 after that for the tiler. After he finished, the electrician came back to put in our lights and hook up the (air jet) tub. The workmanship is fine, but they made no effort to compensate for taking 3 weeks for what was supposed to be a 2-day job. Also, people don't bother to call in when they are sick or late, and Inter-office communication is poor at best.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Check incoming orders against deliveries to e sure they have what was ordered. Call in to work if you are not coming in.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Learn patience and have a back-up bathroom just in case the reno is unusable for several weeks.

I am sorry to hear about your wait time, unfortunately I am unable to pull your invoice through Homestars because of how long ago your review was done and at the time also we were unaware of Homestars and that there had been reviews.
I know at the time are showroom was being relocated and are management was going into some changes. But never the less communication is key and I am sorry of the hold time.
