10/10

Just like the name of his company, the deck that Eric built for us two weeks ago will surely last for life. It is so sturdily and meticulously constructed. The sonotube concrete pillars are 4' deep in ground and 7' apart or closer. The beams are of 3 ply 2x8 of the premium lumber. The beams are <7' apart. Joists are also 2x8 of the same lumber, cut just a bit long and hammered in to strengthen the structure. Brackets were fastened to the beams/joists with lag screws, not the cheaper kind of square or cross head screws commonly used by other contractors for this application. Joists are spaced no wider than 12", short span only 8". Composite boards were attached to the joists not just by hidden clips but were also screwed down on two ends of every board. All screws on boards, skirts included were plugged with MFR's matching colour plugs. No short change on workmanship. We had seen two other contractors' work where two 2-year old composite decks with edges warped without being screwed down. That was the very reason why I hired Eric. He knew what I was talking about. Not the other 3 or 4 contractors I dealt with. Of course, we also visited his two previous clients and saw the decks he had constructed before finalizing our decision to hire Eric. It was one of the best decisions that we had made. Thank you, Eric, for your exceptional work.
