After finding my main building drain starting to back-up I called a number of different drain companies, including Drainworks, for quotations. In the end I found that while Drainworks quotation was not the lowest, it was still reasonable and also in writing. Upon signing the work order it took only a day to have a Drainworks crew on site and only a day and a half to finish the job. In that period of time 3 workers dug, by hand, down to the drain in my front yard, tunneled under an existing porch and removed the building trap and replaced a section of drain. After arranging to have the city inspector come and look at the tree root damage they filled in the holes, added new top soil on top and even replanted a bush that was removed in order to dig the hole. Overall I am quite happy with the work completed and have only one small complaint. At one point during the dig job I asked the drain technician what type of water service line we had, the idea being it would likely be easy to replace a portion of it given the fact that the line was mostly exposed by the drain excavation. He told me that he believed it was ½ copper, which is slightly undersized for a home, but that there was a chance it might be ¾” and that he would check it for me. Unfortunately I never thought to ask again and it was only when I reviewed the final inspection report, upon completion of the job, did I learn that the service line is actually lead pipe. By this time it was far too late to do anything about it.
