What we thought would be a fairly simple job turned out to have more to it, and Paul was very professional and helpful when providing us with estimates. He suggested several options to decrease costs, was very upfront about all potential costs and kept things in perspective. He gave us time to think about it, and when we decided to forego the renovations, he cancelled the contract without any problem. Throughout all of it we never felt like we would be 'taken for a ride'. We will likely go back to Mainland Ventures when the times comes to add to our house.

Honesty and integrity are traits that I not only live my life by but also operate my business with. I have heard horror stories of clients losing deposits and other nefarious tactics if, and when, a contract needs to be terminated. I would not be able to sleep at night if I bullied people in such a way. Rather the contract between us should merely function to clearly state the terms, scope, and responsibility of each party. In your case, after a closer look at the intended project, the scope increased so much that it wasn't a project you wanted to proceed with. No problem. Contract cancelled and deposit returned. Standing by my work, sub-trades and their quality and allowing people to change their mind is in my opinion the ONLY way to run a successful, long-term, highly reputable business. This is precisely why so many of our clients are repeat clients that refer us to their friends and families and become life long friends. Please feel free to contact us again should you require any future home improvement services. I would be happy to provide you an estimate.
