Addition, Renovation, General Contractor, Builder
We hired Adrian Bynoe Contracting from Mississauga to construct an addition to our home and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this company. After we got started, he became difficult to work with and had a surly manner. On the first day he argued with our neighbour after damaging the fence and refused to put it back exactly as it had been. We fixed the fence. ABC did not put rebar in our foundation although it was in the plans and required by the OBC (Ontario Building Code). He constructed our addition at a different elevation to the existing house and the floors did not match up. He decided that he would not construct 3 footings that were to hold columns that were to hold up the 1st and 2nd floors, thinking that the existing strip footing would be sufficient. In at least 4 areas, he did not follow the stamped/ approved plans and did not consult us on the changes he made. He did not connect up one side of the old weeping tile of the existing house to the new addition and left it abandoned. He did not put a weeping tile at the base of a 6' portion of an exterior wall and we had water issues for several months until we figured out what the problem was and had it corrected. He did not overlap the Delta MS sufficiently where the addition and the existing house were joined and we had water leaking into the basement. It took us several months and a lot of money and heartache after his early departure to arrange other contractors to correct and/or finish his deficient work in order to get our final inspection. Meanwhile he dragged us through small claims court and lost his case, we counter-sued and won but so far he professes to be hard-up for money for any kind of a repayment. This company was recommended to us and we called all references supplied but this contractor ended up being a HUGE disappointment. To say that we were UNHAPPY and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ADRIAN BYNOE CONTRACTING is an understatement. This site needs to add another rating for "Would you recommend this company" ......... "ABSOLUTELY NOT"
