STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVING COMPANY! I was referred to this company from a colleague. the estimate was a little high, however, felt comfortable with the referral and the estimator. I was told the move would be an 11hr job, that they would be able to get everything in with a 28ft. cube van, and would have 3 workers for $99/hr. I was not confident that the size of truck was sufficient, so a week prior to the move, I rented a large cargo van and made 2 trips with the cargo van full of boxes. With that, I felt I brought enough myself to ensure more room. Come the Saturday of the big move, I was actually pleased with how they worked during the load and was happy with how much stuff they got in the van. A couple of minor hiccups, however, nothing major... Unfortunately, even with the 2 previous loads I made earlier that week, there was still enough to fill a 20ft cube van of which I was forced to rent the following Sunday morning and finish the move myself. The workers seemed ok and when we got to the unload location, I threw them $20 to get a bite to eat for lunch. They decided to order pizza and wings and because of a mix-up from the food service and late gauranteed delivery, received their food for free. (I didn't see my $20 back, nor even a thank-you, however, was focused on the move and didn't realize this until afterwards -my mistake). During the unload is when something horribly went wrong.... and am unsure what exactly. When the load was 3/4 finished, they stopped working and would not unload another item until i settled the contract (of which I find out is an additional $300 (est.) of which were were still well under time for the estimate and did not agree with. I needed to haggle with the owner of the company named Joseph who was a complete ass, acting incredibly rude. I told him while we argued about the difference in estimate and price, his workers were sitting idle for 45 minutes. After this amount of time of bickering and his finally understanidng that I was not going to pay the new amount, he agreed to bill for the original estimate. My maticulous wife had neatly packed and labeled every item and box over two months of packing and was very clear where things had to be placed. As I was the only person at the home trying to direct 3 workers going in and out of the truck, it was difficult to keep checking to see where things were actually going. My large dining room table was destroyed in the move as they took it apart during the load after I repeatedly asked them not to. When we arrived and they tried to put it back together, it became quickly apparent that it was destroyed beyond repair and 2 legs were completely torn right off. When speaking to the owner of the company, he told me that the dining room table that was broken must have broke because it was cheap(of which is far from) without even being present to look at it. When I inquired about my understanding that the company was insured, he will not be claiming anything that his workers broke and that even if he did, the fine print on the contract states they would pay $0.06 / every 10lbs. (therefore something that weighed 100lbs would be insured for $60).... Good thing no small antiques or priceless airlooms were broken that weighed a pound or two... Once the movers left (and tipped!), I had a chance to inspect upstairs and quickly found bags of clothes that were neatly packed and clearly labelled, were all torn in half and clothes strewn and thrown into my master bedroom closet.... Half of the bags that were all clearly labelled to which room they belonged to, did not even belong in that closet let alone that room (and some not even on the right floor of the house). The walk-in closet's shelving, storage areas and hanger pole was completely torn from the drywall and was strewn all over our coats (that belonged downstairs) and my 10mnth old clothes that were strewn everywhere (of which belonged in a completely different room). A large black-iron-framed mirror was completely shattered when I removed the thick blanket we packed it in; my coffee table was chipped and marked in several places; the new glide rocking chair for my wife's baby room now has a severely large gauge right across one side. We are still unpacking, and not looking forward to what other surprises are awaiting us. My wife was absolutely shocked and traumatized when she saw how all of our belongings were treated. We're slowly getting back to trying to put this in the past and to begin our new home, however, not before I bring this infront of a small claims court.
