October 2022, Dan from Ottawa Valley Spray Foam came out with a helper and they spray foamed a 12 x 12 vaulted ceilings room. The job was quoted on a price per square foot basis. In December, my electrician discovered that there was a gap along the whole roofline that was missed. I messaged the company and was told the owner would be notified. After not hearing back, I messaged again and was told that the owner would get back to me shortly.
This went on a few more times until finally the owner Dan messaged me to say that he was dealing with personal issues and that *if* he were to return to complete the job, he would charge me more. His excuse for the extra charges was that it took 2 months for me to notice his mistake, and that there was a walk through after he completed the job and everyone seemed happy.
The area missed is included in the square footage that was paid for, though, and there was no final inspection walk through, as he had informed me that the spray foam he uses is a carcinogen until it dries completely and the smell is gone. If there had been a walk through, I would have asked him to scrape down the foam overspray all over the walls, main wood beam etc. Im still dealing with that mess.
The ceiling area that Dan missed now allows all the heat in the room to rise up and escape through the roof, and the snow directly above it quickly melts, causing ice build up.
I gave Dan the opportunity to fix his mistake, and instead of an apology and a quick visit to finish the job he was paid for, he blocked me from being able to message him. This is not the action of a professional adult, its something Id expect from a belligerent teenager.
This is a big investment in your home comfort, and its not worth taking a chance on this company that does not stand behind their work.
