In the summer of 2011 we had All Weather Windows install new windows for our entire house. We had gotten three quotes from different companies and the dollar amounts and window quality were similar. We went with All Weather because they committed to being able to install the windows during a time frame that fit with our busy summer schedule. When we got the call to set up the details of the installation, the dates were different than what we had agreed to. After some discussion and back and forth, All Weather did accommodate our schedule. This seemed a positive thing until the installers showed up. They were a very green crew and, in their inexperience, mistook rockwool insulation for asbestos. All work stopped so that the rockwool could be tested to determine whether it contained asbestos or not, which we were not happy with but understood the safety implications and were supportive of figuring out whether there was an issue (despite all of our research showing that it was highly unlikely). While we waited for the testing to be finished, our kitchen window was boarded up and all of the new windows left outside on our lawn. I called All Weather to see whether we should tarp the windows and I was told not to worry about them, that they were the responsibility of All Weather until they were installed. This resulted in the windows being left outside for in excess of two weeks and becoming very dirty due to significant amounts of rain. When it was determined that there was, in fact, no asbestos in the house, the windows were installed in one day over the August long weekend. The crew was experienced and we have no issues with the actual installation (except in the office where we get minor condensation); the cleanliness, on the other hand, is still an issue today, more than a year later and countless attempts with q-tips, toothbrushes, small cleaning brushes to clean the frames. At the end of the installation, one of the crew members asked the crew-lead whether they should clean further and the reply was "we're installers, not cleaners". It was obvious over the course of the installation day that the crew was ready to start their long weekend. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. Looking at our new windows makes me unhappy rather than glad to have spent thousands of dollars.

Company Response

Elenor, the situation involving your renovation was unique. We are quite familiar with many types of insulation from many era's but what we found in your home required additional testing for everyone's safety. It is unfortunate this delayed the project. In regards the windows being dirty,I invite you to contact personally as i would like to remedy this situation ASAP. I am dissapointed that the complaint had not reached us sooner. We are not perfect but we strive to correct all customer concerns. Please contact me at 780-468-2989. Best Regards, Trevor Derewlanka, Renovations Manager.
