After over two years of getting some quotes from various sized contracting companies, I met with Stefan. During the initial walk through to discuss the basement reno, I felt Stefan really took the time to listen. I knew how I wanted the space to function, and Stefan was able to translate that into real ideas and solutions. I needed that! As I have handy family members, we opted to have Stefan complete the foundational structure of the reno - demo existing past DIY work and doing the subfloor, framing out rooms, drywall etc. This was my first reno experience and when walls were opened up and the unexpected popped up (inevitable !), Stefan immediately walked me through the issue and various options. I felt I was always able to make informed decisions when it came to how to address the problems (to fit within our budget). I work from home and the days started with Stefan walking me through what they expected to accomplish that day, and ended with how far they got. I really appreciated being a part of the process. His team is courteous and respectful of the home - having never done a reno before, I was concerned with how it might be with a crew in my home while I also worked from home. And there were no issues at all! I opted to purchase the materials as they were required. My limitations with knowledge of materials required very specific, descriptive lists, and there may have been some assumptions of what my base knowledge was initially (which caused some screw ups on my part). Over time, the instructions became as detailed as I needed in order to fulfill the material needs. For a first time reno experience, it was good! Stefan and his team are knowledgeable, experienced and produce quality work. They are approachable and flexible. I would engage Stefan again for future projects.
